Positive Discipline
Aston Manor’s system of Positive Discipline for Learning, is the cornerstone of our Behaviour and Learning Policy ensuring that the behaviour and learning environment, remains outstanding.
Daily communication with parents is provided via the school planner to ensure student progress is communicated on a regular basis.
We promote learning skills as part of our expectations for learning and students are rewarded for displaying positive learning behaviours. Expectations for learning are designed to encourage pupils to contribute to classroom activities so they can demonstrate engagement, attainment and contribute to a positive learning environment.
Positive relationships between students and staff are underpinned by our expectations for learning, allowing for meaningful discussions and restorative practice to take place.
The support we receive from parents is fundamental to supporting their child’s learning, development and future ambitions.
We operate a stamp policy as part of our Positive Discipline for Learning Policy. If student receive a negative stamp, these carry points. Once a student receives three point, they get a detention. Stamps are collated throughout the school day and recorded in the School Planner, so parents can see where there are issues such as; incomplete homework, lack of uniform/equipment.
On achieving levels of awards for good behaviour and contribution, students receive an awards and these are recognised in assemblies and with parents.
Rewards can be allowed to enable students to participate in visits and to receive additional privileges.
Further information can be found in our Behaviour and Pupil Discipline Policy
year 8 optionS
Options time is an important point in your education, as it is here that you choose some of the subjects that you will study for the next three years. We know that it can be a difficult time and can cause anxiety because there are a lot of questions that you might have: Which subject is right for me? What if I don’t know what I want to do. Rest assured that we will help you to make choices about future learning that are right for you. Our Year 8 Options Evening will help pupils, parents and carers decide on which subjects best support future career aspirations but also identifying those subjects which pupils enjoy and feel positive about.
